Natalie Wilson

Creative Arts Therapist

Tel: 07977 598437

I offer creative arts therapy for those seeking balance and insight when life feels difficult, complicated or confusing. Creative arts therapy invites you to explore how you discover and express yourself when words are not enough or simply run out. This may be through drawing, role play, story or crafts and you don’t have to consider yourself “an artist” to benefit from this approach.

This will be an affirmative and inclusive safe space for you, without judgment or bias. You will find me a friendly and empathetic presence to accompany you on your therapy journey.

I work in Glasgow and online.

About Me

My approach is to first meet and see the person that you are, rather than the ‘issue’. I understand the importance of ‘being seen’ and I will provide the space to help and support your healing, growth and potential.

I trained in Drama and Movement Therapy at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and have been awarded an M.A. by the University of London. I am registered as a Dramatherapist with the HCPC and abide by their code of ethics. I am also a trained Action Learning Facilitator and a professional theatre director.

Whilst training, I helped people of all ages and backgrounds, from young children to elders. I gained insight and experience in specialist areas such as social anxiety, neurodiversity, grief and bereavement, dementia and cognitive disorders.

My practice is trauma-informed and guided by teaching in Sesame Dramatherapy, Developmental Psychology, Analytical Psychology (Jungian), Relational Psychotherapy.

I am based in Glasgow and enjoy the hills and nature that surround the city as well as its lively cultural scene.

About Me

What is Creative Arts Therapy?

Creative Arts Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creativity and arts practice to work and relate with people therapeutically. In our work together, you can expect both conversation and creative expression. There is no need or pressure to perform or be ‘artistic’.

Creative arts are a way to open up the expressive landscape of your journey. It will help access unconscious images, symbols or metaphors which may have deeper significance for you or bring awareness to past events or relationships that may be impacting your wellbeing. Our session may be fully ‘talking’ if that feels right. Or I may introduce a story to reflect upon, lead an exercise or we may express a feeling through movement. Over time, you may bring your own practice to the sessions if that’s what you want and need.

LGBTQ+

I welcome all people from the LGBTQ+ community as I identify as lesbian, queer and gender non-conforming. I especially welcome older LGBTQ+ people who may be feeling a growing sense of confusion and/or invisibility as our age evolves our sense of identity and shifts our relationship with the community. With lived experience of ageing, I am able to empathise and reflect your concerns and hurts, offering you an understanding of the challenges and joys of age without having to explain or justify your life situations.

Who is it for?

Creative arts therapy is suitable for everyone. The work can support a wide range of themes, experience and issues including;

  • Anxiety / low mood

  • Self esteem / shame

  • Being stuck, lost or unsure

  • Gender / Sexuality questions

  • LGBTQ+ / GSRD

  • Sense of self and identity

  • Ageing

  • Menopause

  • Retirement

  • Coming out in later life

  • Body image

  • Grief / Bereavement

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Cognitive issues / Dementia

  • Difficulties with school, work or family

  • Seniors & Elders

  • Neurodiversity

This list is not exhaustive and we can discuss your needs at the initial consultation.

What to expect

I offer both in-person (in Glasgow) and online sessions (via Zoom) for individuals. Each session will last approx. 50mins. In that time, we will ‘check-in’ and reflect before exploring any themes, events or feelings that you bring with you to our session.

If you think you may be interested in working with me, we can have a free 20-minute chat either by phone or online. I will introduce myself, find out about your needs and answer any questions you may have. We will find a mutually convenient time for a regular session. My practice room is located near Charing Cross, with proximity to the West End and City Centre.

You can decide how many sessions you would like at our initial conversation or at any time during our work together.

Fees & Practicalities

My fee is £50 per session, either in person or online.

Block of six sessions at £275
